Privacy Policy

Recall (“we”, “us”) turns your notes into flashcards and helps you review them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Photos for card generation: when you snap or choose a photo, it is sent securely to our server, used once to extract flashcards, and not stored. We keep the cards, never the image.
• Topics you type: the text you enter to generate a deck, used only to create the cards.
• Your decks and cards: the flashcards you save, including any edits you make.
• Review history: which cards you rated and when, used to schedule your reviews and compute your streak and stats.
• Account information: if you choose to create an account, your email address, used to back up your decks and sync them across devices.
• Basic diagnostics: app and device information used to keep Recall working.

How we use information

• To generate flashcards from your photos and topics.
• To schedule reviews and keep your streak and stats.
• To back up and sync your decks when you have an account.
• To diagnose problems and improve the app.

AI processing

Card generation and the “Explain this” feature are powered by an AI model run through our server. Your photo or topic is passed to the model to produce cards or an explanation, and the AI keys never leave our server. We do not use your content to train models.

The camera and your photos

Recall only accesses the camera or your photo library when you choose to snap or pick an image, and only to turn that image into flashcards. We do not keep your photos.

Guest use and accounts

You can use Recall without creating an account. Your decks are stored under a private guest session so your reviews and streak work immediately. Adding an email upgrades that same session in place, and your decks and history carry over. Data is protected so that only you can access your own decks, cards, and review history.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we show no ads. We share data only with the service providers that operate Recall (hosting, database, and the AI model used to generate cards), and only as needed to provide the app.

Your choices

• Use the app without an account.
• Edit or delete any deck or card at any time.
• Delete your account and all associated data (decks, cards, and review history) from within the app.
• Revoke camera or photo access in your device settings.
